| So apparently the orchestra is in Florida. well damn. that's awesome. In other news, I have had some accounting problems. intro cost accounting is so incredibly simple, it almost shouldn't count as a fall credit unit. That said, on both tests I have gotten only an average score (among students at the top undergrad business school, but still), which is rather disconcerting, especially since I was considering accounting as a second major. I just declared finance, btw. I just make dumb mistakes. I looked over my test, and I couldn't believe the stupid shit I did. I finished the test in 1:15 so I had 45 min to look over it, which I used (usually I wouldn't stay till the end, but this time I did) and it looked fine at the time. I don't see how, especially when I did something the right way for half of a question and the wrong way for the other half. It just doesn't make sense that I would have overlooked it. On two tests! it kills me. on the plus side: Phillies game tomorrow! I'm not really a baseball fan, but it's college night, with $1 hotdogs, so I can't go wrong. you know it. | | |
| 4 Midterms, 1 German Referat(oral report) ==> Infinite Overkill
This is a bad week. So, good timing for xanga, of course. Wednesday is the one day when nothing is expected of me. One class, 10:30-11:50. Big open afternoon. I ran, I lifted. I got a care package from my grandparents! It had a valentine's day card, reese's, hershey's, homemade caramel corn, and a pan of bars. Nothing says midwest like a good pan of bars. Anyway it all made me blissfully, blissfully happy. (rathergood.com, anyone? it's been a few years, but i think one of the cartoons ended with "...and they were all blissfully, blissfully happy," which has apparently been stuck in my head ever since.) So yes, wednesday is a good day, and I need to go put my laundry in the dryer.

| On some Saturday evenings, when I feel a particularly long way from home--student 24601--I listen to A Prarie Home Companion live online from mpr.org. (now it's integrated into my iTunes actually, but that's still the source) Garrison Keillor is kind of a strange guy, and I disagree with most of what he says that isn't for entertainment purposes, and the show is amazingly hokey, and, and... but somehow it leaves me feeling a lot better about things. It might just be connection to home. I think I've finally realized that I'm a midwesterner at heart. I may live in Philly for now, but I am inescapably Minnesotan. So that's my big revelation for today.

| What's with cars burning in Philadelphia? This week was the second time that a car started on fire on campus in my time here. Last year it was right in front of my building, and nobody was allowed out; the smell of burning rubber filled my hall. This time it was on Walnut street at a place I often walk past to get to classes in the main business building. The front end was all black, the windshield broken in, and the front tires were sad little piles of thick lumpy goo. wires and bits of metal and things were scattered over the street and sidewalk. Apparently it was parked there and just happened to start on fire. what?

| So, I didn't go to either of those concerts. Just to let you know. BUT, tonight I am going to a concert of The Hold Steady. I have no idea what they are. I can't name a single song. meh. I think that'll make it more interesting. If not, well, then I can leave.
which might be better anyway so I can catch my flight home tomorrow morning!
